Description
Vor 1860 von Thaddäus Clapp in Massachusetts/USA gezüchtet. 1867 erstmals im Katalog der amerikanischen Pomologischen Gesellschaft erwähnt. Frucht: Eine wertvolle Tafelbirne für den Frischverzehr. Genussreif Mitte bis Ende August. Sehr große, breitkegelförmige, gleichseitige Form. Die Schale ist glatt, hart und dick. Die Deckfarbe ist gelblich-rot, mit vielen Flecken. Saftiges, schmelzendes Fruchtfleisch. Süßer Geschmack mit angenehmer Würze. Baum: Kräftiger Wuchs, breitpyramidale Kronenform. Früher Ertrag, hoch und regelmäßig. Die Blüten sind frostunempfindlich. Breit anbaufähig, bis in Höhenlagen. Günstig sind wärmere, genügend feuchte, dann auch leichtere Böden. Druckempfindlich. Eine frühe, große, wohlschmeckende und ertragreiche Birne, sehr zu empfehlen für den Frischverzehr.
